Alison Sloan is passionate about food and this shows through the courses, demonstrations, talks and consultancy services to the media and commerce as well as schools and special interest groups. Cookery Courses

The hands-on format varies from a two hour practical session including lunch to a whole day finishing with afternoon tea. These are held at National Trust properties, Heritage sites, as well as at Pear Tree Cottage. Themes may be historical such as "Old English Puddings", regional such as "Food from the Fens" or product based such as "Fish" or "Autumn Fruits" or "Chocolate" or "Breads".

Demonstrations and Talks

These take place in museums, schools, and community halls and for television, radio and regional food shows. Talks and demonstrations range from ten minutes in length, according to requirements - how long have you got?? (Alison is passionate about food!)

Cookery Lessons and Clubs

Alison works on the Food Initiative project with Cambridgeshire Acre. This includes working with the Surestart programme as a Healthy Eating Co-ordinator. She works with families, toddler groups, pre-schools and child minders to put the Healthy Eating messages into practice. Alison is a cookery practitioner for a cluster group of schools running cookery clubs. She works with dieticians, speech therapists, health visitors and teachers to create tasty economical and healthy dishes. 'Rumbly Tummies Cookery Club' and 'Crumbs!' are two popular examples.

Promotional Work and Recipe Development.

Product or ingredient promotion of any food items can be undertaken. Items can be researched for historical context for development as a marketing tool. Alison's knowledge of food and ingredients, in conjunction with her passion and creativity means she can devise and develop delicious, interesting recipes to promote anything edible!
